First things first you will need a standard blender and a juicer.

When preparing to make a basic smoothie it is important to remember that all fruits/vegetables have natural sugars. Anything else that we put into a juice or smoothie adds extra calories and depending in any already existing health conditions harmful additives. Experiment with different combinations of fruit and or yogurt (low fat/fat free) or milk ( I personally prefer non-dairy but it is an individual choice) and ice. Fresh fruits will be ideal but frozen fruits do the job as well. Pop it in a blender and voila the perfect snack, accompaniment to a meal or even meal replacement. Keep in mind that when choosing a smoothie as a meal replacement you should be more intentional about what you put in it and can experiment with protein powders, nuts/nut butters, Chia seeds, etc. 

Juicing can be a bit more extensive but the combinations are literally endless. I suggest picking up a basic smoothie or juicing recipe book and trying new additions on a weekly or monthly basis until you find what works for you. Don't make it a chore do it with the family and keep it fun.
